Asking yes or no Questions: what you need to know.  

Some questions have yes or no for answers. 

For a "yes or no" question,

begin with the helping verb, then the noun or pronoun: 

remember?

The helping verbs are: 

verb be:  is, am, are, was, were, will be. 

verb do:  do, does, did, will do. 

verb have:  have, has, had, will have.)

BUT: we use do have, does have, did have, for questions)

MAKING YES OR NO QUESTIONS USE THIS FORM:

present tense:

Am I _____?     

Are you (we, they) _____?  

Is he _____?  

Do I ___ ? 

Do you (we, they)_____?

Does she (he, it) _____ ?

Do I have _____ ?

Do you (we, they) have _____ ?

Does he (she, it) have _____ ?

past tense:

Was I ___ ?

Were you ___ ?

Was he ___ ?  

Did I (or you, we, they, he, she, it) ____ ?

Did I (or you, we, they, he, she, it) have ____ ? 

 

future tense:  

Will I (or you, we, they, he, she, it) be ____ ?

Will I (or you, we, they, he, she, it) (do)____ ?

 Will I (or you, we, they, he, she, it) have ____ ?
